There are a few types of visa which allows you to travel once within a month, twice within a month, multiple times within 6 months and more. A visa for a single visit takes 5 working days. A passport that is valid for 6 months or above and two 2-inch colour passport photo.

Currency

Vietnamese dong (VND) is the currency in Vietnam. In addition, US dollar is acceptable but the rate is lower. You can exchange currency at the banks, hotels or the currency exchange counter at some large-scale shopping centres. You can exchange the dongs to RMB when you leave.

Traffic

You can purchase the flight ticket to Vietnam, rent a local vehicle or shuttle bus online. Cities in Vietnam offer motorbike rentals without requiring driving licenses but only your passport and deposit.

Communication

You can purchase a sim card online prior to arrival or use your roaming data but the fee is higher.

Electricity

Voltage in Vietnam is 110V – 220V which is basically the same as the mainland. The socket is as same as China’s but three-hole socket is rare so a converter is necessary.
